(A1,iii) Generate Passcode for Students
Important: Students will be able to bypass the password reset page if their passwords have expired when they log in using a passcode. They will be redirected to the respective landing pages when logging in (applicable for both Teaching and Learning and E-Assessment Login).
Owners and Co-teachers can create a Passcode (formerly known as two-hour temporary password) for students in their Class Groups. This is valid for 10 hours and grants students temporary access to the SLS if they had forgotten their password or if their accounts had been locked.
However, when students use a Passcode to log in, they will not be able to access My Profile, and hence cannot change their password, security question answers, or email address.
Note: For a permanent solution, students can follow this guide on Student - Reset Password to reset their passwords. If they still encounter difficulties, and you are unable to reset their password for them, you should contact the SLS Helpdesk or your school's SLS Administrator. Only the SLS Helpdesk and SLS school administrator are able to unlock a student's account. The SLS Helpdesk will need to verify a student's identity using the security questions that were set up when his/her account was first activated.
Access Passcode
There are multiple ways to access the Passcode page.
Open the left menu and click Administration, followed by Manage Student Password / Passcode.
On the homepage, select a Class Group, then select the Admin tab and click Manage Student Password / Passcode.
Generate Passcode
On the Manage Student Password / Passcode page, select the checkboxes on the left for the students you want to generate passcode for.
Click Generate Temporary Passcode.
Enter a temporary passcode and re-enter it for confirmation.
Note: The temporary passcode must follow the password guidelines.
Click Generate Passcode.
Note:
The Passcode needs to be entered at the existing SLS login page and not the MIMS login page.
Students can either use their own password or the Passcode generated to log in to SLS.
