You can enable auto-marking in an Audio-Response Question by selecting the Audio-Response under Question dropdown in the Component Bar.
Note: The Speech Evaluation Tool is only available for Audio-Response Question types.
Check the box next to "Use" and select the relevant Language for Speech Evaluation
Then click the Speech Evaluation icon in the Rich Text editor.
In the pop-up that appears, add the text for evaluation and click Save.
The text to be evaluated using the Speech Evaluation tool will appear in a grey box. If you need to edit the text, you can click on the pencil icon to edit the text.
You may then edit the pre-populated rubrics by customising the bands and mark range.
If there are no further changes to the question, click Save.
Note: An audio recording of the text for speech evaluation will be automatically created under the Suggested Answer tab.
View Speech Evaluation Feedback
To view the Speech Evaluation Feedback for your students, select a student from the Monitor Assignment page.
Navigate to the activity or quiz with the Speech Evaluation Tool.
You will be able to see the student’s personalised feedback from the Speech Evaluation Tool.
The Speech Evaluation Tool will generate a transcript of the submitted audio recording. The transcript will be automatically annotated for errors such as mispronunciation, inserts and omissions for English, Chinese and Tamil Language only. Support for Malay Language will be implemented in future updates.
Note: You can play the correct audio for mispronunciation or omission errors by clicking on the respective words in the transcript.
You will see the marks awarded by the Speech Evaluation Tool based on the bands and mark range allocated.
Under Teacher Comments, the Accuracy and Fluency Scores as well as the Words Correct Per Minute will be displayed.
You will also be able to add your own feedback to help students understand their areas for improvement.
Speech Evaluation in a Teacher-Marked Quiz
In a Teacher-Marked Quiz, you can edit the suggested marks returned by the Speech Evaluation tool, if needed.
If you unsubmit a student’s response, they will need to delete their audio response in order to reattempt the question.
Note: Their transcript and error annotations will also be removed if their audio response is deleted.
