(A2,5) Add Fill-in-the-Blanks Questions (Enhanced)
Add Fill-in-the-Blanks Question
- In the Lesson Editor page, hover over Question in the Component Bar.
- Select Fill-in-the-Blanks. Below are the types of Fill-in-the-Blanks questions you can choose from:
- Text Input: Students will type their answer in the blank.
- Helping Words (NEW): Students will choose the correct answer for the blank from a drop-down list.
- Multiple Options (NEW): Students will choose the correct answer for the blank from a drop-down list.
- In the Question Body field, enter the question.
- Click Add Blank to add a new blank. The blank will be added where you place your cursor.
Each blank will have a corresponding field in the Answer section.
Note: You will only see the Answer section when you have added at least one blank.
Each blank has the following:
- Answer - Enter an acceptable answer here. Each blank can have multiple acceptable answers. Press Enter within the field to add a new acceptable answer.
- Distractor (only for Fill-in-the-blanks with Helping Words/Multiple Options) - Enter a distractor here. Each blank can have multiple distractors. Press Enter within the field to add a new distractor.
Case-sensitive checkbox (only for text input) - If this is checked, the answer will be case-sensitive, that is, "usa" will not be accepted as a correct answer while "USA" will be accepted.
Click outside the Component to Save.
Note: select the checkbox “Words may be used more than once” if there are blanks with the same answer. If selected, duplicate options (if any) will only be shown once.
Edit Fill-in-the-Blanks Question details
Fill in the optional details of the Fill-in-the-Blanks question:
- Recommended Time - You can set the recommended time for the student to complete the question.
- Hint - This is displayed when students are attempting the question to provide them with a scaffold in solving the question.
- Answer Feedback - The explanation to the question's answer(s). This is shown to students after they have submitted their answers.
- Feedback - The explanation to the entire question. This is shown to students after they have submitted all their answers to the question.
- Number of tries - This allows the number of tries to be set. The default is one try.
Marks Per Blank - You can set the number of marks per blank. The default is one mark per blank.
Note: Question Body, Hint, Option tex, and Feedback fields support Rich Text-enabled components.
