(C1,iv) Attach Google Files
Learn how to attach and embed Google files in SLS to enrich lessons and student activities.
(C1,iv) Attach Google Files (Enhanced)
SLS is enhanced with the full capabilities of the Google Suite of tools. Teachers are encouraged to link their iCON 2.0 or Google accounts with SLS. Teachers can easily embed and assign Google files through linked accounts (see below). They can also perform on-screen marking and give feedback with touch devices using Google extensions.
From the Module Editor page, select an Activity and hover your mouse over Text/Media. Select Google File, followed by Add File or Embed File.
Alternatively, select Text. Using the Google picker, select between Add File from Google or Embed File from Google.
Another way is to hover your mouse over Question, select Free-Response followed by Google Response.
Select the Google File you wish to add or embed from the file selection subpage, and click Select.
Teachers are able to add and embed Google Files in the Text/Media component, or in the pre-populated student answer for students to access/attempt.
When files are added from Google, the file will be shown in the text body as a media bar.
When files are added to Pre-populated Student Answer in a Free-Response Question, a personal copy of the file, which students can access and edit, will be made for the students after the module is assigned in SLS. There will be a tooltip next to the file to indicate to teachers and students which Google Drive account the file is shared with.
Note: From Mar 2025 Update, teachers will be able to access their student’s Google Response files to see their drafts before submission.
