Learn how to mark Teacher-Marked Quizzes, award marks, and give feedback on open-ended questions before releasing results to students.

Marking a Teacher-Marked Quiz
Only in a Teacher-Marked Quiz will you be able to allocate/edit marks and provide Comments for open-ended questions (i.e. Free-Response, Audio-Response, File Submission questions) to students.
After a student submits a Teacher-Marked Quiz, it will be indicated with the To Be Marked tag in the Heatmap.
The Pen icon will also appear in the following places to indicate marking is needed:
Assignment card on homepage
Assignment page
Monitor Assignment page
Click a student’s name to navigate within the student's Assignment to begin marking.
Alternatively, click the Question number in the Heatmap to View All Responses. You can also click on a student’s name to navigate to the particular Activity for the entire Class Group, starting with the student you clicked.
You can give comments to individual or multiple students on the following questions:
Free-Response Question
Audio-Response Question
File Submission Question
Marking a Free-/Audio-Response Question and File Submission Question
Navigate to the student's Quiz Cover in a Teacher-Marked Quiz and click Start Marking.
Enter the marks for each question and and click the Save icon . Note: You can also award half marks for Free-/Audio Response Questions.
You can also give feedback under the Feedback tab.
Click Add to enter your feedback in the Rich Text Editor. If you wish to attach a file from your Google Drive, click here.
Click Post to proceed.
Note:
For Teacher Comments, you may insert mathematical or chemical equations by clicking the respective icons. You can also insert drawings, upload file attachments from your local hard disk or Google Drive, or record an audio recording.
You can also mention students and/or teachers in your post by typing '@' and selecting their names from the dropdown list. The selected students and/or teachers will be notified.
If you are in an individual student's Assignment, click the left/right arrows at the top to navigate to the next student.
Additionally, you can annotate (underline) your student's responses to give specific Comments.
Once you are done marking, you can release the results to Students.
Note: For Audio-Response Questions, you can still use the Speech Evaluation feature in a Teacher-Marked Quiz. However, the results will not be shown to the students until the quiz has been released by the teacher.
