What's new in June 2025 Update - With links to User Guide
This list details the changes users can expect in the upcoming SLS June 2025 Update, which will be rolled out on 25 June 2025. Please note that SLS will be unavailable from 23 June 2025 11:59 PM to 25 June 2025 10:00 PM to facilitate this update.
Features for All Users
Assignments
Annotation Enhancements
- Teachers and students can more easily differentiate annotations made by a teacher (underline) from those by students (highlight).
- For annotations made on questions, teachers and students can view the question number with question text as the header of each annotation card.
Due Date Tracking
- Teachers and students can filter assignments by multiple status types: Incomplete, Overdue assignments, Overdue Sections, Due in 3 Days, Complete, and Upcoming.
Feedback Fields
- Teachers and students will see the "Teacher Comments" field renamed to "Feedback" in Free-Response Questions (FRQs). The existing "Feedback" field will no longer be available.
Planner Enhancements
- Teachers and students can manage their work by creating tasks, with deadlines, from multiple entry points such as the new task list, module plan, section cover, and learning progress (students only).
- Teachers and students can attach resources such as sections and modules to these tasks.
- Students will be prompted when they mark incomplete attachments as complete.
- Students can also create goals from learning progress as a task and attach relevant self-study resources.
- The calendar range in the planner will be extended to include the year before and the year after the current year. Teachers can clear planner events en-masse.
Search Enhancements
- Teachers and students can view filtered search results based on their assigned and followed subjects and levels when searching for modules in global search, MOE Library and Community Gallery.
- Teachers and students can view subjects and their corresponding levels as paired information in search results, providing clearer understanding of subject-level relationships.
- Teachers and students can see a clickable icon on each search result for modules. Clicking on the icon will open the module in a new tab.
Avatar Enhancements
- Teachers and students can click non-AI avatars to view a user's profile.
Features for Teachers
Account Management
- Teachers will receive an SLS email notification if their account becomes inactive due to MIMS inactivity. Their SLS account will be deactivated after a 120-hour (5-day) countdown if their MIMS remains inactive.
Authoring
Gamification Enhancements
- Teachers can import gamification settings like Details, Experience Points, Game Stories, Collectibles and Leaderboard from other modules in Starred Resources and Library.
- Teachers can duplicate game stories and collectibles when setting up their gamification conditions.
- Teachers can add gamification conditions as section/activity prerequisites that regulate students' access.
- Teachers can switch off viewability of Experience Points (XP) for students. When viewability of XP is switched off, XP and levels will not be displayed for students. However, game stories and collectibles with level conditions will still be awarded.
Live Chat
- Teachers can set up Live Chat for both team and non-team discussions.
- Students and teachers can interact in active Live Chat rooms and view each other's posts live.
- Teachers can manually end and close Live Chat rooms. The Live Chat room will be converted into a discussion post and past interactions will be stored as comments.
- Teachers can also set a time limit for Live Chat rooms. Live Chat rooms will close automatically when the time limit is reached.
- Live Chat will not be accessible in self-study modules and when previewing as student.
Hide Question Number
- Teachers can hide question/component numbers in quizzes through the Quiz Details settings.
Click-and-Drop Question Enhancements
- Teachers can place and reposition options more precisely in Click-and-Drop questions.
Component Card Enhancements
- Teachers can view the component number and corresponding body text as the header of each component during module view and authoring.
Authoring Copilot (ACP) Enhancements
- Teachers can upload Google Slides, Docs and Sheets into the Knowledge Base to be used for ACP generation and for Learning Assistant reference.
- Teachers can access ACP directly from the Add New and Create/Edit subpages.
Assessments
- Assessments will no longer be shown together with assignments. Instead, teachers can access the Assessments listing page to view all assigned assessments.
- Teachers can also switch to their student accounts with the shortcut on the Assessments listing page.
Assignments
@-Mention
- Teachers can use the @-mention feature in notes, annotations, comments, posts and feedback to notify other teachers and students when their attention is needed. The names in the dropdown list for using @-mention will be based on the teachers and assignees of the assignment.
Annotation Enhancements
- Teachers can share notes and annotations from their teacher assignment view with all other assignees of the assignment. Students will see the same referenced note or annotation in their own assignment view.
- Teachers can choose to notify students when they share notes and annotations from their teacher assignment view.
Heatmap Enhancements
- Teachers can view their student's activity page directly by clicking on the corresponding activity status heatmap cell.
- Teachers can see section start and due dates when they filter by sections on the heatmap. They can click on the dates to access the Assignment Settings page and adjust the due dates.
Annotated Feedback Assistant (AFA) Enhancements
- Teachers will be able to set the number of drafts that students can submit to AFA to receive feedback on before their final submission.
Adaptive Learning System (ALS) Enhancements
- Teachers can filter to the Learning Outcome level in the student view of the ALS Learning Progress Dashboard (LPD) and sort students based on their ability score.
- Teachers can see a snapshot of the ability score attained by students when they complete an Adaptive Section in an assignment.
Short Answer Feedback Assistant (ShortAnsFA) Enhancements
- Students can submit Google Slides, Docs and Sheets to ShortAnsFA as part of their Free Response Question (FRQ) response to receive feedback.
- Teachers can edit criterion feedback after an FRQ/Audio Response Question (ARQ) is released.
Data Assistant (DAT) Enhancements
- Teachers will be able to save their DAT analyses results for FRQ responses and Discussion posts for future reference.
- Teachers can set up DAT so that students can receive quiz level feedback at the end of a quiz based on their performance for questions in the quiz.
- Teachers will be able to use DAT to analyse the overall performance of their class in a quiz.
Error Tracker Enhancements
- Teachers can quickly access a selected student's error tracker from the Students tab.
- When viewing as student, teachers can see a listing of attempted modules with the number of tagged errors under the Questions tab. Clicking on "View Questions" under each module will allow teachers to see the list of questions and their associated error counts.
- A filter has also been added to allow teachers to filter the error tracker by month range and error tag.
Starred Resources Enhancements
- Teachers can star and unstar class group and community resources.
- Teachers can add content from their starred class group resources.
Features for Students
Access Control
- Students can be redirected to the respective landing pages of their URL when logging in with a temporary passcode, even if their password has expired (over 365 days without change).
Assessments
- Students can access the Assessments listing page to view all assessments assigned to them.
- Students cannot view the module structure of upcoming assessments and assignments that require passcodes.
Assignments
- Students can use the @-mention feature in notes, annotations, comments, posts and feedback to notify teachers when their attention is needed. The names in the dropdown list for using @-mention will be based on the teachers of the assignment.
Annotated Feedback Assistant (AFA) Enhancements
- Students can use a 'Check' button to receive iterative annotated feedback about their answer and subsequently work on the feedback in a new draft of their response.
- Students will be able to view past drafts with accompanying annotations.
Error Tracker Enhancements
- Under the Questions tab in error trackers, students can view a listing of attempted modules with the number of tagged errors. Clicking on "View Questions" under each module will allow students to see the list of questions and their associated error counts.
