(A1) Create Quizzes (Enhanced)
Add Quiz
There are multiple ways to add a new Quiz.
- On the homepage, select Create/Edit Module, then select Quiz.
- On the Module Editor page:
- Click Add New below the Component Bar, then select Quiz.
- Click + on the Collapsed Activity List, then select Quiz.
- Click Add New in Full Activity List or Module Plan, then select Quiz.
- The default Quiz Mode is Progressive Quiz. You can choose to set the Quiz as Optional by adjusting the Optional toggle icon.
- You can change the Quiz Mode, add Description and Instruction to Students by clicking on the Quiz Component.
Quiz Modes
There are three quiz modes that you can choose from:
- Progressive Quiz
- Students receive feedback automatically after submitting each question.
- Free-response, Audio-response and File Submission questions will not have marks allocated. Students will be able to see the suggested answer (if any), feedback (if any), and Teacher's Feedback (if any) after submission.
- Quiz scores will be calculated based on these 5 automatically-graded question types: Multiple-Choice Questions (MCQs), Multiple Response Questions (MRQs), Fill-in-the-Blanks (FITB) Questions, Click-and-Drop (CND) Questions, and Error-Editing Questions.
- Auto-Graded Quiz
- Students receive feedback automatically after submitting the quiz.
- Free-response, Audio-response and File Submission questions will not have marks allocated. Students will be able to see the suggested answer (if any), feedback (if any), and Teacher's Feedback (if any) after submission.
- Quiz scores will be calculated based on these 5 automatically-graded question types: MCQs, MRQs, FITB Questions, CND Questions, and Error-Editing Questions.
- Teacher-Marked Quiz
- Select this quiz mode if you wish to use Print-to-Scan.
- Students receive feedback after the teacher marks and releases the quiz.
- Quiz scores will be calculated after the teacher has marked and released any Free-response, Audio-response and File Submission questions in the quiz.
Quiz Settings
Timed Quiz
For all Quiz Modes
Timed Quiz records the time a student takes to complete and submit the quiz. The time taken by the student to submit the quiz will be stated on the Monitor Assignment page.
To set a Timed Quiz:

Check the box next to “Set quiz as timed quiz.
- This shows a timer that will count upwards as the quiz begins, and show the recommended time below it.
- You may also click Use Recommended Time to use the total of the Recommended Time of all Questions in the Quiz.
- Note: Timed Quizzes cannot be shorter than 5 minutes in duration.

(Optional) Check the box next to “Submit quiz for students when time is up to submit quizzes automatically when time is up. This option may be useful for e-School-Based Assessments.
Note: When the time is up, students will not be able to access the quiz to change their responses, and all draft responses will also be lost.
Quiz Retries
For Progressive and Auto-Graded Quiz only
Teachers can allow students to retry a Progressive Quiz or Auto-Graded Quiz.
- Check the box next to “Quiz Retries.
- (Optional) Check the box next to “Minimum score for quiz completion is to make it compulsory for students to retry a quiz if marks attained are below the percentage value set by the teacher.
Note: The total scores for Progressive Quiz and Auto-Graded Quiz exclude marks for open-ended question types (i.e. Free-response, Audio-response, File Submission questions).
Randomise Pages in Quiz
For Auto-Graded and Teacher-Marked Quiz only
Teachers can select the option to randomise all pages in Auto-Graded and Teacher-Marked quizzes.
- Check the box next to “Randomise pages in quiz
- (Optional) Check the box next to “Assign students to select the number of pages to assign, and the maximum marks for the quiz.
- (Optional) You may click on “Use Average Quiz Marks to automatically select the maximum marks for the quiz.
Note: If you select the number of pages to assign, the quiz pages will be assigned to students at random.
Hide Quiz Marks
Check the box next to “Hide quiz marks” to hide quiz scores, rubrics marks and marks for each question from students.
